Mentors Who Understand and Relate

Table of Contents

There are plenty of people I can say I look up to here that have found sobriety. Everyone has their own story but when it comes down to it everyone’s story ends the same on how their life had become unmanageable because of the drugs and alcohol and they couldn’t go on living any longer. Some you can relate to more than others as many of them had some of the same difficulties as I did or other’s in our group. In my case that someone was named Nick who happened to be working at B2B at the time I showed up here and he has been here for my entire stay.

After my stubbornness wore off over time and I actually started to get to know some people on a more real level here, I found myself starting to gravitate to him for some reason.  It may have been because he reminded me of myself a long time ago before I started to use alcohol and drugs an had become somebody I no longer knew.  The longer I had time around him I quickly realize he ought to be my mentor. Someone I could ask anything to or get advice on a problem because I was clueless on what to do. Sometimes or actually a lot of the times I tended to not like what his response was but I did listen and overtime take it to heart and proceed to take action on those things that are toughest for me.

Thanks to him and plenty of others i could say I found myself slowly becoming more and more of the person I thought I’d lost years ago. It takes someone that has been through similar paths to understand where you are at the moment and Ive found out if you let go and let someone like him, like in my case, help you it can be all the difference. I tend to look back every time, take a breath and I’m grateful for Nick, my mentor.
