You may wonder how folks find the right rehab and treatment center. With relatively new and increasing Opioid epidemic everyone is wanting to jump on the band wagon and capitalize on the ‘opportunity’. National Public Radio (npr.org) recently shared in their article “Body Brokers Get Kickbacks to Lure People With Addictions To Bad Rehab” how this bad business is increasing and the inner workings. “Body brokering is a source of frustration for legitimate providers of drug rehab services.” Their article goes on to share how ‘kids are literally being bought and sold’ in the deals taking place.
So what is ‘body brokering’. Body brokering, also called patient brokering, is when a treatment center offers an individual a kickback of some sort to bring in ‘clients that have good health insurance’. As NPR.org stated, ‘there are millions to be made in billing patients for unnecessary treatment and tests.
Once the client is successfully ‘referred’ the broker receives a kickback from the treatment facility, all the while the individual is not getting they help they truly need.
Here at Back2Basics we want to heed a clear warning to those out there looking for real recovery solutions. Take time to review any recommended solutions thoroughly, ask questions, take a tour of the facility and most importantly look at their long-term success rate (although this can be inflated as well). By doing your due diligence you will avoid the body brokering and insurance scam scenarios to get the true help you need for you or your loved one.
We are self-pay or accepts insurance program. We leave that up to our clients and in some cases our clients have the resources or might need financing. We are always happy to share recommendations, but we are not affiliated with any financial intuitions preferring to keep our business ethical and above board. Ultimately all financial decisions rest on the client.
We also approach our business uniquely in that it must be a win-win solution. In other words, as important as it is for you to find the right treatment center, it is equally important to us to find the right client to meet our demographics. We focus on young adult males only between the ages of 18-35 and who are addicted to drugs or alcohol. We have other requirements as well, and those are presented during our intake interview.
Finally Back2Basics wants to ensure the right fit by offering you a tour. We do present virtual tours on our website, but we welcome the opportunity for you to come out and visit us.
