What obstacles would have prevented you from coming to Back2Basics? The obstacles that prevented me from coming to B2B was fear. I was afraid to change for the better and I didn’t know what that looked like.
Why is B2B worth it? Back2Basics is worth it due to the friendships that you make and this is the first time in my life that I have had true friends and these friends last a lifetime outside of B2B. When you are an addict, you don’t really have ‘true’ friends, only friends that want to keep you addicted and feed you with their lies so they don’t feel alone. True friendships are based on truth and going through recovery together where you can grow personally and as friends and knowing you are accepted for who you are.
What specific aspect of B2B do you like the most? The aspects of B2B that I like the most is the Outdoor Program because of all of the great places that we go– they are beautiful, peaceful and it is awesome to just be out in nature. I also love the Culinary and Nutrition classes as part of the program as I enjoy cooking and making great food for other people. I find it to be a great therapeutic process to prepare dinners and then see everyone enjoy what I created.
What benefits can you share that might help someone else? The benefits that I have found helpful at Back2Basics are the self-discipline that you learn to both accomplish and appreciate, accountability and learning to accept yourself and your actions/decisions, and most of all the community that will last a life time. This is very important to me for living a sober life in recovery going forward and is the foundation that will help me to stay grounded.
What would you tell your loved ones about Back2Basics and what it has done for you? I would tell my loved ones about all of the things I have learned about myself and my addiction. I would also tell them about all of the beautiful outdoor trips and the great places I have been. And I would thank my parents, my mother for researching and finding Back2Basics and my father for the countless financial support he has given me. Also I would like to thank my parents for never giving up on me and their endless love.
