I had been to drug rehab before, but when I first decided to get sober I thought all that meant was not using. I had no idea what I was really getting into. I thought that if I wanted sobriety all I had to do was stop using.I never thought I would have to find a way of life to grow up. I thought that I would still be able to hang out with the same people and that I would still be able to do the same things. I had no idea that if I truly wanted to be sober I would have to make many changes. When I decided to take on the challenge, I understood it was going to take a lot of work, time, and dedication. When I came to Back 2 Basics, I started to see all the challenges I would face.I am very grateful that I could find a drug rehab for my heroin and opiate drug use.
I know that being here people only want to help me become an independent and sober person. Being in long term treatment treatment program is teaching me the life skills i need. I realized that having a structured schedule of continuous activities was to show me that when I had idle time with my thoughts of relapse, I didn’t make good choices. Now I see how it helps a person in recovery and all I can do is learn and benefit in my own recovery. Now that I have been clean and sober for months now, I have been able to go to college while in rehab which is a miracle. Learning while recovering from opiates, vicodin, and oxy codone has been a process being bitter sweet, but I am sure glad that Back 2 Basics has guided me along the way.
