By Current B2B Client
So about a month ago we took a trip to Red Rock Canyon, outside of Las Vegas, and during that trip I slightly tore my meniscus in my right knee. I’ve been doing some physical therapy and stretching to help strengthen it, but it continues to not make much progress.
Since I haven’t been able to hike I haven’t gone on the last two trips, which have brought up some things for me. I am a control freak, so if I had it my way I would be out there with the other clients. For me, the outdoor trips are a chance to get out of the house and to experience the outdoors and the fun things it has to offer, but the biggest reason I want to be out there is to bond with the other clients.
While on a trip, there’s no schedule or extended structure. We get a chance to bond on a deeper level and really get to know each other. We’ve gotten three new clients in the last few weeks, and I feel like I am missing out on getting to know them.
When they return from these trips, I barely want to know what happened, just because I don’t like to feel like I have missed out on something big, but there are also upsides to not going on the trips. I’ve gotten a chance to experience the transition house, and what that has to offer. I have gotten a chance to get used to being uncomfortable, not knowing the schedule for the following day. I’ve had to sit with myself, and my own feelings, which has been a whole new experience. B2B staff helped me organize and start a resume, so that I can be prepared for the end of my initial six months of the program.
All in all, it’s been a great learning experience for me, I have been able to look at things I have done for myself. In a couple of weeks I will be going to Mexico with a couple of the other clients super excited for it.
