Reflection Through Solo Adventures

Table of Contents

Not everyone is familiar with what a solo trip is here at Back2Basics. A ‘solo’ is a time where you have the opportunity for self reflection. I have found that it gives me a gauge on where I am at with my wrok on myself. I tend to gauge based on my level of comfort with being alone with just my thoughts. It allows me time to decompress and get solitude.

I have been able to go on two solos so far at Back2Basics. My first solo was around one month into the program. I spent a lot of time building a ‘trapper shack’ and walking around, which was something that kept me distracted and in the end it was a disservice to me not allowing me to put in the work on myself and to self reflect.

I was able to recognize this when on my second solo I felt a lot more comfortable in my own head-space. I didn’t feel like I had to find outside distractions and I could contently site in self and do self reflection and be able to clearly put thoughts to paper. I spent a lot of time on my second solo journaling and getting therapy work completed thoroughly and thoughtfully.

Overall, I find myself benefiting tremendously from the solo experience. It is something that allows me to gauge where I’m at with my head space and I gain much insight from the experience.
