B2B: What would you say to other young men using right now about seeking help?

Client’s Reply:  I’ll go ahead and assume that this person is wanting to get some sort of help because if not, its not my position to go there with someone. I can only say this because of my experience of similar situations. If this person is ready for help though, just talking to somebody that he can relate, like myself, is the first step. From there I can start sharing some things I’ve done to make him realize he’s not alone. For that point try and take him to an AA meeting. He will probably not want to go at first, but hopefully he will come around. A lot of people from my knowledge have a hard time admitting that they have a problem even though it is so obvious to everyone around them.

A lot of confusion can occur but this young man has most likely surrounded himself with others that do the same thing and lived somewhat of a normal life at first but it is a slippery slope. Once you can see clear and realize what your problems are, then you can start to fix them. Getting a sponsor from AA is the next step for him. This is a man who is going to meet with him and show him the way. The sponsor will guide him through the step work and connect him to something greater than himself that will keep him sober. That’s all you can do and what I have done myself to this point.

The program will work for you if you put the work and time in. It can be simple or frustrating depending how hard you want it. So just remember that you will get from it what you put in to it.
