Family Letter 03-21 Beautiful West Clear Creek

Hello B2B families and friends. It’s your friendly neighborhood client T (again) back to you all with another family letter! This week was pretty hectic, as the other client T and I both had family weekends (To client T2’s parents, it was a pleasure getting to meet y’all, and Mom and Dad, thanks for a great weekend!), so there wasn’t much down time for anyone. This weekend trip was quite enjoyable, with fun hikes, lots of jokes, roaring fires, and lots of playtime in the water…so without further delays…

By now all of y’all probably know the basic early morning Sunday routine and have it memorized, but since we have so many new folks hopefully reading this, I’ll go ahead and make sure its known (say it along in your head if you already know what I’m gonna say!). We awoke Sunday morning happy and content, knowing West Clear Creek was our destination for the weekend. Per the usual, we climbed aboard the vans burritos and coffee in hand, and made our was to the 9:00 Men’s Stag AA meeting. There was a great discussion, and many of our clients shared in it. After the meeting, we hit up the gym. Some rousing games of basketball were played, as well as walleyball, racquetball, and lifting heavy objects and setting them back down again for fun. Afterwards around 12:30 we got back into the vans and headed out to West Clear Creek. I had control of the aux cord in our van, so we drove to the rousing tunes of Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and Taylor Swift among others. Once we got there, we strolled a leisurely 3 miles to camp, stopping along the way for a pretty sweet cliff jump which several clients took part in. Our campsite was a pretty heavily used and in an awesome location, so after setting up our bedrolls (or tents), we got a roaring fire going, settled in for some fun and games, ate dinner, and turned in for the night.

After a beautiful nights sleep, we got up around 8:00 to start our day hike. Until the halfway point, we stuck to trails that roughly followed the creek, and were treated to a rousing 10 minute explanation on how West Clear Creek got its name (hint; its fairly obvious from the name). We stopped midway through to journal for our later SIC discussion. However, to the chagrin of some clients, Guide Nick promised everyone that they were going to get their boots wet. At the halfway point that promise came to fruition as the trail ended into the creek, and we quickly jumped in and began the several mile wade back to camp. It was incredibly fun, trying not to fall into the cold water, jumping from rock to rock and generally enjoying the day. We took a couple of shirtless group pics (gotta show off the muscles!) and eventually made our way back to camp. After another roaring fire was built, we began drying our boots and socks and participated in  Sharing Is Caring session. There were a few games of spades, and a game of follow the leader (a pretty physically demanding climbing game), and then once again, we fell asleep to a starry sky and the sound of the nearby creek.

Tuesday morning always come too quickly, and we were all up by 7:15, making our mandatory oats and packing up our stuff. We hit the trail by 8:15 and after stopping to clean up the landscape which had been soiled by other campers, returned to the vans. We loaded up and headed back to Hunter, where a delicious lunch was prepared for us. After a derig and a pretty intense group community, we had an in house AA meeting and relaxed for the rest of the night.

On a side note, I’d like to bid farewell to clients M and D, who are moving on to the second half of the program. Best of luck to you gents, and to their parents, you raised some excellent young men. It’s been a pleasure living with them.

Until next week,
This is Client T, over and out.
