My Journey to B2B

Table of Contents

I have been at Back 2 Basics Sober Living for almost five months now. There have been a lot of ups and downs for me in the past few months and it seems I am finally leveling out. Lately I have been thinking of what I am going to do once I leave B2B. I plan on leaving a little after six months and it is becoming more real for me as each day goes by. I have been going back and forth between staying in Flagstaff and going back home to Minnesota. I used to be scared of moving on with life. I didn’t think I was capable of going to school or holding a steady job. I still have my doubts but I am starting to have more confidence in myself.

My journey to Back 2 Basics in Flagstaff, Arizona began after getting kicked out of extended care in Minnesota I was sent straight to Wilderness Quest in Utah. I was terrified to go to this place. The first night I arrived it was May and it was snowing. I was given a tarp that was rolled into a backpack with rope and was told to make a shelter out of the rope and tarp. Going to this place was one of the best things that could have ever happened to me. I told people things about myself I thought I would never tell a soul. I backpacked up mountains, climbed sand dunes, and scaled cliff edges. I hiked 26 miles twice. I did things I thought were never possible for me to do.

Now that I am in 12step recovery here in Flagstaff, things are starting to become clearer and I feel that it is getting close for me to transition from this part of my recovery from drugs and alcohol to further my life journey, substance free embracing the world as a sober young adult
