Snowboarding Arizona Snowbowl, our time to get some exercise and experience outdoor adventure therapy on the mountain.
I’ve been at Back 2 Basics Sober Living for two months now, and despite our schedule and routine, we always seem to have something new going on. This past weekend was no exception. Instead of one of our outdoor trips, me and three other guys stayed back to get some snowboarding in with Roy and one of our outdoor guides, Caleb. I really enjoy going outdoors and backpacking but I was very excited to stay back and go riding.
I have been snowboarding plenty of times in my life but as I got older, my drinking and drug use interfered with my life so much that I quit doing anything I enjoyed. My experience this weekend has added yet another reason to a very long list of reasons why I want to stay sober. There’s a lot of room for fun in sobriety and I’ve genuinely enjoyed life more in the last couple of months than I have in the last couple of years.
I also really enjoyed the weekend because having such a small group has allowed me to get closer to these guys. I appreciate having a full group of guys but I also really like it when we get into smaller groups and get to know each other a little more intimately.
Overall the weekend was awesome and my legs are going to be really sore.
