green construction1 Learning to be responsible at Back 2 Basics takes time, but if I can do it, you can do it.

I’ve learned several things here at Back 2 Basics.  Our weekly schedule takes us through many every day learning opportunities and life skills which have really helped me to become more responsible. When I first came in I barely knew how to maintain myself and I’ve learned here at Back 2 Basics how not to run and ask my mother to bail me out of all my situations for instance when I got sick I wanted to call her immediately so she could save me.  But while being here I managed to take care of it myself with a little help from the staff.  I also learned how to clean up after myself and when I was back home I had someone do all that for me like my dishes I’ve also learned how to do my laundry which was also was done for me back home.  I’ve learned also how to notice my surroundings and analyze what is going on and how to intervene into a situation.  I’ve learned how to relax and not always be the center of attention; how to sit back and process information that other are giving me.

A note from Back 2 Basics…

One of the most critical measurements of treatment success begins the day individuals step foot out our doors and are faced with the question, “O.K. Now what?”. Answering this question is part of learning to be responsible.

Back2Basics provides the support and guidance needed to avoid falling into the pitfalls of old habits and behaviors. We strive to equip our residents with the tools and purposeful goals necessary to carve out productive and satisfying lives in the world beyond our doors – a world in which success is measured in years and lifetimes of sobriety. The joy of witnessing long-term sobriety and highly functioning members of society is our greatest reward.
