Back 2 Basics Outdoor Adventure Therapy includes opportunities to learn and experience life… even participating in an art class in Mexico
During our Back 2 Basics Outdoor Adventure Therapy we took a trip to Mexico. The cool part about this trip was that we have been able to participate in art class with an Alcoholic’s Anonymous member Lorie.
Lorie has been coming to our villa every other day to teach us art techniques while painting. She lets us make our own ideas and paint what we want to paint. Lorie has given me many tips to help me improve my painting skills. I am not a huge fan of painting but surprisingly enjoyed it when Lorie taught the class.
Our first day with her I told her I sucked at art and that I am not interested in painting or drawing. As I started to paint and form a better picture everyday I started to see it becoming better and better and felt proud of myself for being able to paint something I thought I could do.
Not only is Lorie a great artist and teacher she is also a very interesting individual and I love engaging with her in conversations. She makes the class more interesting by the things she talks about with us and has much knowledge about Alcoholics Anonymous and helps us with questions we are interested in.
Art class in Mexico has been a great opportunity and learned I can paint.
