PRESS RELEASE:

BACK2BASICS OUTDOOR ADVENTURE RECOVERY FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Flagstaff, Arizona October 5, 2017 – BACK2BASICS OUTDOOR ADVENTURE RECOVERY, one of the nation’s leading addiction recovery program, announces the launch of their new Kathy’s Culinary Corner blog at https://back2basicsrecovery.com/kathys-culinary-corner/. Back2Basics unique recovery program combines residential 12-step programming with experiential outdoor adventures to treat individuals with substance and alcohol addiction and lead them through rehab and recovery into long-term sober living.

When it comes to addiction, whether it be drugs or alcohol, the last thing the addict thinks about is nutrition and fixing healthy meals to eat. Their only priority is to feed their addiction which then ravages their body where they sink further and further into a lifestyle exclusive of nutrition, fitness or healthy eating.

Here at Back2Basics, once a young man comes to us for recovery treatment, we immerse them into our ‘Core Program’ which includes Culinary & Nutrition and we immediately begin getting them on a regimented nutrition and healthy eating schedule and providing wholesome nutritious meals. This is key to their recovery process in helping their body to feel better, teaching them how to focus on their health, and in the process as they feel better, they manage their recovery better.

To explain further, in order to help our clients recover, it is important that they understand the impact of nutrition. They are fed healthy to become healthy. Our clients learn about the role that nutrition plays with their recovery and how to maintain a healthy diet. We actually bring them into the kitchen for Culinary class where they learn how to purchase the right healthy foods at the grocery store, meal planning, and cooking. Our cuisine is rocket science or made up of delicate artisan recipes, but rather they learn healthy eating through hearty ‘true-to-life’ recipes that they can sustains themselves on once they graduate from Back2Basics… recipes that last a lifetime and are created in ‘Kathy’s Culinary Corner’

Kathy DuPrez is the Culinary & Nutrition Director, and is in the process of writing her cookbook for individuals in recovery. The recipes she creates are not only the actual meals that are provided at Back2Basics, but also the recipes that our clients learn in culinary class. “I want these young me to learn how to live sober and how to take care of themselves”, said Kathy DuPrez..

We have snatched some of our client’s favs and have put them online here on our website in our new blog section: KATHY’S CULINARY CORNER. DuPrez further stated, “my goal is to teach these young men how to eat healthy to help them stay healthy”.

The clients are loving having access to their favorite foods as they cook and for those who have graduated, it is their one-stop-shop to come back to as they continue with their healthy lifestyle of eating nutritious food beyond Back2Basics. But, not only do our client’s love Kathy’s Culinary Corner and Kathy’s recipes, so do their parents who get a taste of her homemade cooking when they visit for the monthly family workshops. In fact one parent recently posted a request on our Back2Basics Outdoor Adventures Facebook page, “I would love to have the recipe for her curried deviled eggs!”

We will soon be adding the Kathy’s Deviled Eggs recipes and will continually be adding more recipes over time, please come back and visit and feel free to share with your family.
