B2B Sponsor

Client Journal

Around my third week at Back2Basics I was told to get a ‘sponsor’. Not knowing how to go about doing this, it left me kinda puzzled. This is a guy I’m supposed to get to know on a very personal level and put my faith in him pointing me in all the right directions to keep me sober. So if you can imagine the headache of picking a good one might be a little overwhelming.

In my certain case the choice came a little easier than I would of ever thought. Just days later B2B had my group attend an AA sponsored event called a ’round-up’, where hundreds of recovering alcoholics came to meet. Myself being from St. Louis had to of course be wearing a Cardinals shirt that particular day. Thank God I was because this older sight of a man came up to me and happened to be born in St. Louis and started talking baseball.

After doing a bit of investigating I came to find out that he was someone who could be a sponsor to me and after two weeks of trying to get a hold of him, I finally got a call back. He knew I was serious about wanting to be sober as he was of being sober. Fast forward two months now and this man has taught me more than I would of ever thought. From getting me in touch with my higher power to a workout plan to better my diabetes, since he turned out to be a nurse as well.

Not sure where to start? Every recovery journey is different—we can help you find the right path.
