The first rehab I went to I loved it, well at least as much as you can love a rehab place. I felt like it was more of a vacation then a rehab because of all the lavish things we got to do, eat, and we were around a lot of water. Because of the environment of that rehab facility and the odd jobs I was force to do, it didn’t really prepare me for the outside world. I figured out that I didn’t like where I was and it was not going to help me with my recovery, so I asked my parents for help and a different solution to the problem. A few days later my parents told me about Back 2 Basics.
I quickly decided to take the change and fly into Arizona without even asking questions. I knew the basic outline of the program at Back 2 Basics and what I was going to get into, however after the first week I was having second thoughts. Luckily the residents who had been there and I mashed well together and because of that, I began to have a more open mind. Flagstaff is a very close knit community when it comes to the meetings. They welcome newcomers with open arms, which is perfect in my eyes because I am not the most outgoing person. I finally got a sponsor to work the steps with and I was getting results. The difference from the other rehab facility to Back 2 Basics is by far very different and more involved with trying to help us. I’m glad I made the change and I know that this change is better for my recovery.
