Enjoying The Outdoors At Lake Powell

Back2Basics and I had a wonderful serene experience in last few days. We had a beautiful drive filled with some of America’s best landscapes. There is a drastic change in serene from Flagstaff to right outside Page, Arizona. From green plush forests to amazing canyons filled with vibrant pinks, reds, oranges and browns. It is an amazing thing seeing the change in sediments on the rock walls. We ended up at Lake Powell ten minutes from the Arizona border into Utah. Our camp site had the finest sand that melted between your toes just feet away from the aqua-green lake front. You can just see the beauty of the rocks and plateaus layered behind each other. The view was right out of an amazing painting. I can only hope that people can recognize the vast beauty of this country. The heat of the sun makes the refreshing pool temperature water feel like you landed in heaven on earth.

Our group had brought paddle boards and a couple of kayaks to play around in lead to us paddling across the lake to a rock formation that jetted out from the middle with sheer wall standing tall enough to see for miles around. I had just woke up the first morning realizing that the sunrise was a million dollar view and though I had seen many from growing up in Albuquerque I had yet to see one quite this beautiful.

The sun was coming through a crack in the rock across the lake. The reflection off the water from the pinks, oranges and yellow hues in the sky with the blend of its pinks and oranges would make any outdoor enthusiast speechless.

I was at peace with myself and life during this amazing morning. For the more adventure driven person looking for a thrill there are water sports ranging from fishing to wakeboarding, paddle boarding and speed boating. I had the first opportunity in my life to paddle board and it was great! My core and arms were sore for a few days after. Back2Basics went cliff jumping off 36 foot cliffs across the lake proving to be yet another highlight.

I have always been the thrill seeking type and enjoyed every second. You might be the laid back type or a full blown outdoorsman and I couldn’t recommend it more for any type of person. After we left Lake Powell we headed toward a smaller canyon right outside of the Grand Canyon. You could hear the waters below reflecting off the rock walls and working its way up to our camp site. For some of us it’s not every day we get to get out for a weekend in nature. All I can say is we as human beings need this to connect back to our roots and enjoy new experiences. Nature can help us have a different perspective on life. Take advantage of what around you whenever possible.
