Living Sober and Setting Goals

Table of Contents

Friends have asked me what are your plans or goals once you graduate from Back2Basics? When it comes to that and looking into the future, I try not to do as much anymore but instead prefer to take it one day at a time. But keeping it in perspective and thinking through my plans, some goals of mine would be to stick around Flagstaff for another year after my treatment to learn how to live life, pay bills and get some sobriety under my belt. Schooling is an option depending on the route I take for future jobs. And, I’ve been considering getting into the field that my step-dad is in is a huge goal for me. Knowing now that I can be capable of doing so is a big goal of mine. There are other things that are smaller as well– like just supporting myself, getting a car and attending AA meetings regularly.

In being able to meet my long term goals I need to get my eyes on the small day to day goals first and most importantly. If everything goes perfect, owning my father’s businesses would be the thing that I love to do but we will see how everything will play itself out. Knowing that a higher power has a plan for me has humbled me like I never could of imagined. In the meantime, I will keep my side of the road clean and things will fall into place. The most important thing I will always keep in mind is that once I’m personally capable, is to help others that fell into the same difficulties as me. I understand to keep what I have gained, that I will need to give as much if not more back to helping others.
