Asian style sauce for chicken, pork, seafood

Yield – 6 servings

Ingredients

2 tablespoon cornstarch

3/4 cup orange juice

1/4 cup chicken broth

1/4 cup teriyaki sauce

3 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons butter or margarine

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon slivered almonds

Optional ingredients: *Dried whole green chilies and whole garlic for flavor

Directions

In a small saucepan, combine cornstarch and orange juice until smooth.  Stir in the broth and the remaining ingredients.  Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 1 minute or until thickened.

* Chilies and garlic are optional ingredients for flavor and heat.

Kathy DuPrez has worked in the foodservice industry for over 35 years and has an Associates Degree in Foodservice Management, Culinary Arts from Los Angeles Mission College in California. Kathy came to Back2Basics in Flagstaff in June of 2011, and as the Director of Culinary and Nutrition. Kathy teaches culinary class two days a week and planning menu’s for the residents and preparing meals four days a week. She also oversees operation of the kitchen and keeps an inventory of all food and personal items for the residents. She encourages residents to eat healthy and balanced meals, which is new for many after their previous lifestyles of addiction.

Credentials:

AA degree in Food Service Management, Culinary Arts from the Los Angeles Mission College
