From every Christmas I can remember I have spent it with my father’s side of the family. We all get together and eat a ton of food. After eating we sit in the living room and open presents. It is something I look forward to every winter considering it is a very gloomy time of year. I just love the feeling of everyone coming together and spending time together. It is always a joyful time. Now, in treatment at Back2Basics I have a new family I get to spend time with for Christmas.
Two months ago I was dreading having Christmas here with a bunch of people I do not even know. Now being two months into the program I am really excited for this Christmas. I have grown relationships with everyone here including staff as well, Kelly, head outdoor staff member, let us know yesterday where we all will be going on our adventure. Turns out we will be going to southern Arizona in places near Tucson and further down south. it might be a little colder Christmas than my usual California Christmas I am used to. Other than the weather I am really excited to explore the south of Arizona with my sober friends who truly care about me. I was really bummed about not being able to make it to my normal Christmas but I realized my family would way rather me be in this sober-living environment rather than home.
