This trip to the Colorado River in Moab was particularly special and different for me. Specifically because of my prior interest in rafting and surviving out of a boat. I was very excited to learn more about the specifics of setting up and preparing actually executing it. I learned a lot about the types of crafts that are used, how they’re used and their pros and cons. I liked the duckies the most, the two person to carry gear and for stability in rapids and the one person for speed and maneuvering. I leaned to pack small and waterproof and was forced to leave behind my tent, which I ended up enjoying. More importantly, to me, I became comfortable with the mechanics of simply using the river, as far as eddies and currents and using takeouts. Overall I feel one hundred times more comfortable with the whole activity and I definitely plan on doing it many times more in my life.
