Some Back Basics staff experienced more than just culture shock as they return from the latest immersion trip in Mexico.
Last week, Founder Roy DuPrez along with writer Anne Minard and intern Ross Pollard, were working with clients in 80-degree temperatures. Together they participated in some concentrated recovery activities, learned Spanish, explored local foods and festivities, took surfing lessons and pitched in on some community service.
DuPrez and Minard returned to the states over the weekend, and were greeted with a spring storm in Flagstaff that delivered a full two feet of snow. Temperatures are expected to rebound to the 60s by Thursday. So it’s likely that by the time the clients and remaining staffers return, the mountains of snow will be reduced to mud and puddles — and those sunny skies won’t seem so different from the ones south of the border.
