I thought talking to old friends was going to be positive but now realizing that talking to people who I’ve used with could very easily mess with my new-found mentality. I have learned to not think about my next drink or fix and I knew that if I talked to certain people would only put those thoughts back into my head.

The 12 step meetings stress that you should stay away from people, places, and things that aid in your addiction. By ignoring this suggestion, is what caused me to relapse before coming to Back 2 Basics. At Back 2 Basics, it is a little harder to contact old friends who make me think about drugs and alcohol, which is a positive thing for my recovery.
